After 21 Days: What to Do With the Habit You Just Built
Twenty-one days. If you finished the Big A$$ Salad Challenge - you did something real. Not because a salad a day is...

Ever notice how some days you’re ready to take on the world – and others you’re running on empty, no matter how much coffee you drink?
Here’s the truth: food is energy, and the type of energy you give your body determines how you feel, move, and perform.
Every time you eat, you’re literally fueling your body’s “engine.” And just like you wouldn’t fill a jet with cheap gas, you don’t want to run your body on poor-quality fuel either.
Let’s break down how it all works – and how to use food to actually boost your daily energy.
Every bite you take has three main nutrients – carbohydrates, protein, and fat. These are your macronutrients (or “macros”) and they all get converted into energy your body can use.
Once digested, these nutrients travel to your cells, where little “power plants” called mitochondria turn them into ATP – the actual energy molecule your body uses to think, move, and function.
So when we say calories are energy, that’s not a metaphor – it’s science. Calories literally represent the energy your body can extract from food.
Here’s where it gets interesting: not all calories are created equal.
Sure, a donut and a bowl of oatmeal might both have 300 calories – but how your body uses those calories makes a big difference.
Think of it like this:
🍩 = fireworks (fun but short-lived)
🥗 = a campfire (steady, reliable, long-lasting heat)
If you want better energy all day – less crash, more focus – it comes down to choosing the campfire fuel.
You don’t need an extreme diet or fancy supplements to improve your energy. You just need balance and consistency.
Snacks are your mid-day lifeline – especially when your energy dips between meals.
Go for combos that mix protein + fiber + healthy fat to keep blood sugar steady:
These give you that extra boost without the crash.
Each meal should give your body the right mix of nutrients:
If you want a quick visual:
🥗 ½ veggies + ¼ protein + ¼ carbs + a drizzle of healthy fat
This balance keeps blood sugar steady, supports muscle recovery, and keeps your metabolism humming.
Feeling tired or foggy? Sometimes it’s not food – it’s dehydration.
Even a small drop in hydration (1–2%) can zap energy and focus.
Aim for half your body weight in ounces of water each day, more if you’re sweating or flying often.
Add electrolytes or fruit slices if plain water gets boring. Hydration helps nutrients move efficiently through your body – and that means more usable energy.

Food isn’t just calories – it’s your body’s fuel, your focus, your recovery, and your energy.
When you start viewing food as energy instead of “good” or “bad,” you’ll:
✅ Feel more consistent energy throughout the day
✅ Cut back on sugar or caffeine crashes
✅ Improve focus, workouts, and mood
Your body runs better when you feed it better – it’s that simple.
So next time you feel low-energy, don’t reach for another coffee. Reach for quality fuel – your body (and brain) will thank you.
